The Bran is our flagship bushcraft knife — the model this side of the range is judged by, and the one seasoned bushcraft and survival instructors keep coming back to.
Its reputation was not built on a bench. The Bran has been proved across genuinely diverse environments — from the dense jungles of Central America to military operations in the Middle East — and refined by what came back from both. When your customers teach survival for a living, feedback arrives with unusual clarity, and the Bran is the accumulation of years of it.
A 100mm blade, 30mm wide, carrying a true Scandinavian grind: the classic bushcraft edge, biting cleanly into wood and maintained easily on a flat stone in the field. The choked-up guard sits behind the line of the cutting edge, adding stability and control in detailed carving without stealing edge length. Feather sticks, pot hooks, tent pegs, food prep — the whole woodland curriculum runs through this one edge.
The epitome of versatility and performance in bushcraft knives.
The Bran chassis has proved fertile ground: the guardless, broader-bladed Rike takes it toward the specialist carver, and the SERE Edition configures it to service specs for military survival use. The v1 pattern also remains available for those attached to the original.
The blade can be ground from RWL-34 or PMC27 — our everyday stainless steels, chosen for edge retention and low maintenance — from AEB-L when outright keenness matters most, or from traditional O1 carbon tool steel for those who enjoy a blade that asks a little care in return for a superb edge. Our own stainless Damascus, pattern-welded in-house from RWL-34 and PMC27, is available for commissioners who want the pattern of the steel to carry the story.
Handles run from stabilised timbers and burls through to fossilised mammoth ivory, pinned in stainless, brass or copper — or with mosaic pins when you want a flourish that only shows itself on close inspection. Initials, a family crest, or a lifelike species study can be laser-engraved in-house on the blade or bolster.
A Bran leaves the workshop in a sheath made at the same bench — moulded to that exact blade, so it clicks home and stays there. Choose leather in black, brown or a custom colour, plain or hand-tooled with the option of engraved silver panels; or Kydex on our hybrid leather carry system where the season is wetter than the wardrobe allows.
A Bran is built to outlast its first owner. Every knife carries a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects, is numbered and recorded in the workshop ledger before it leaves the bench, and ships sharpened, papered, signed-for and insured. When one comes back years later for a fresh edge, we can look up exactly when it left and what it was made of.
If this is the pattern, the next step is a conversation — or set out the rest of it first in the design tool, and send us the draft.

Every commission starts from the Bran blueprint. Set the steel, handle material, engraving and sheath in the design tool, and we’ll come back with a quote.
